What is political folk music anyway?

We use a broad definition of "political folk music" at raykorona.com.. We view political songs as a vast area of music extending from song lyrics which overtly address specific issues to songs that may seem to have no political content whatsoever, but connect to how we perceive the world, our relationships to others and our own internal sense of what feels right and wrong. We see political lyrics as running the gamut from those that are as direct as today's rally song to others that are purely allegorical and poetic. Our definition of political music also includes instrumental music and, to some degree, all songs are political songs. For an in-depth discussion of political folk music and other musical genres, check out the radio interviews of Ray Korona on the Interviews page on this web site.
